NE Industrial Loco Sheds

Every year, there seem to be fewer heavy industrial sites in North East England.   Next to disappear may be the remaining colliery loco sheds at Philadelphia, under development plans recently put to Sunderland Council.

For more information on this colliery system, see the article by Colin Mountford which is hosted on the Lambton Locomotives Trust web site.   For more information on UK loco sheds, refer to the Engine Shed Society web site, although their primary focus is main line / ex BR.   For these and other interesting web sites click thebutton above.   Lastly a puzzle - where locally is the oldest industrial loco shed?

All of which makes me appreciate our Marley Hill
